Seventh place for the Swede Elias Lundberg at the Barum Czech Rally Zlín. Grégoire Munster has to park the ADAM R2 with a technical problem

Rüsselsheim/Munich/Zlín. The Swede Elias Lundberg finished the season finale of the European Junior Rally Championship (FIA ERC3 Junior Championship) in seventh place in the Barum Czech Rally Zlín, which is rich in tradition. After the health problems last at the Rally di Roma Capitale, when a pinched nerve forced him to give up early, the 21-year-old Scandinavian and his co-driver David Arhusiander mastered the 15 highly demanding special stages at the finale in the Czech Republic without any major problems. Their Belgian team-mates Grégoire Munster and Louis Louka, on the other hand, had to park the ADAM R2 of the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team on sixth intermediate place in the third-last special stage with an electrical problem.

"Finding the right vehicle set-up for these treacherous, undulating asphalt tracks was not easy," confessed Lundberg. "We found it difficult to find the right rhythm in the cockpit, especially as the characteristics of the special stages here are different from any other rally I've ever contested. But we absolutely wanted to reach the finish in Zlín, which by no means all the teams managed. And the atmosphere created by the enthusiastic fans at this rally was a very special experience for us."

Team mate Munster was understandably disappointed: "On day two things went much better than in the first leg. We had continuously increased our pace and wanted to finish the ADAM R2 without too much risk. What a pity that we had to give up so shortly before the finish because of a Pfennig defect. We would have liked to have rewarded our great ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team team with a good result for their tireless efforts throughout the season at the season finale here in the Czech Republic".

Final score FIA ERC3 Junior Championship after 6 runs (including 2 strike results):

1st Torn 132 points. 2. Llarena 125. 3. Furuseth 106. 4. Franceschi 94. 5. Cais 81. 6. Antunes 71. 7. Munster 39. 8. Lundberg 36. 9. Rokland 33. 10. Talas 28.
