With ADAM R2: season opener for the Opel juniors Lundberg and Munster in the Azores

Rüsselsheim.  The Azores Rally from 21 to 23 March marks the start of the 2019 European Junior Rally Championship (FIA ERC3 Junior Championship), into which the ADAC Opel Rally Junior Team will compete with great ambitions. The current Opel juniors Elias Lundberg (20, Sweden) and Grégoire Munster (20, Luxembourg) have set themselves the goal of clinching the fifth consecutive Junior European Championship title in Rüsselsheim.
Six highly demanding events are on the programme for the season, three each on asphalt and gravel. Right at the start, the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team will be staging two events on the Azores (gravel) and Gran Canaria (asphalt) on Atlantic islands. This will be followed by the Eastern European gravel guest performances in Latvia and Poland as well as the final asphalt laps in Italy and the Czech Republic. In the event of two strike results, the four best results will be included in the final standings for the year.
All-rounder skills are therefore the order of the day, as each of the six rallies features special characteristics and demands. And all-rounder skills are exactly what has made the ADAC Opel Rallye Junior Team and the 190-hp Opel ADAM R2 the measure of all things in the FIA ERC3 Junior over the past four seasons.
"Our car has proven over and over again that it works very well in all conditions and on all road surfaces. Our team is well prepared. In the end it's the driver crews who have to put everything into practice on the special stages. In the last four years we've had a good hand here as well. But this is anything but a victory guarantee - nowhere else is the field stronger and more balanced. Mistakes are immediately avenged at this high level," says Opel Motorsport Director Jörg Schrott.
The first event of the season on the Azores places the highest demands on man and material due to the narrow, treacherous gravel tracks. The "king's test" is the more than 20-kilometre-long ride on and around the extinct Sete Cidades volcano, which is lined by thousands of rally fans every year and which repeatedly provides spectacular pictures. As in previous years, Eurosport will once again be showing the best scenes from all runs of the European Rally Championship in daily summaries this season.
Two other Opel ADAM R2 cars, used privately by the Austrian Team Stengg Motorsport, will also hunt for points and trophies in the FIA ERC3 Junior Championship 2019. Simon Wagner (25) and Roland Stengg (24), two absolute top talents of Austrian rallying, are at the wheel.
